The Club Rusakov project born in 2014 in Milan, inside the classrooms of the Faculty of Architecture, while Stefano De Crescenzo, Andrea Corbetta and Lorenzo Parigi planned to bring their experimentations and team synergy to a whole different level. Then they decided to establish a band and to name it after an iconic workers club built in 1929 in Moscow, which was indeed the Club Rusakov. Together with Stefano [guitar], Lorenzo [guitar and vocals] and Andrea [drums], was called Riccardo to play bass guitar. With this lineup, Club Rusakov directed to a ‘70 based alternative rock. They put aside covers by Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, King Crimson and their first own songs, with fully Italian lyrics, sometimes more classically rock and sometimes inspired by jazz and progressive rock. The quartet tooks advantage of the guitarist Alberto Turra for artistic production and arrangements. The turning point, for better or for worse, was the band’s desertion by Riccardo due to his job’s task, in the beginning of 2018. The three founding members then decided to go back to the start of this story. They took all the songs composed till then and they deconstructed them one by one, re-arranged them without bass guitar and gave to all of them that progressive and experimental character which those songs were supposed to have. The references are Motorpsycho, Elephant9, Bushman’s Revenge and all that experimental Norwegian music gathered under the record label Rune Grammofon, but don’t forget stoner, grunge and Italian progressive rock, winking to socially active lyrics by Area and Stormy Six. Between the end of 2018 and the beginning of 2019 will be out the band’s first EP, which will be titled, of course, Club Rusakov.

Il progetto Club Rusakov nasce nelle aule del Politecnico di Milano nel 2014, quando Stefano De Crescenzo, Andrea Corbetta e Lorenzo Parigi, tra un modello di architettura e l’altro, meditano di portare la passione per la sperimentazione e l’affiatamento del team creativo a un livello differente. Decidono così di fondare una band e di chiamarla come un iconico club operaio costruito nella Mosca sovietica del 1929: appunto, il Club Rusakov. Alle chitarre di Stefano e Lorenzo, che si dedica anche alle voci, e alla batteria di Andrea si unisce il basso di Riccardo, amico di Stefano da lungo tempo. Con questa formazione i Club Rusakov si orientano su un alternative rock con i piedi energicamente ancorati negli anni ’70. Alle cover di Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull e King Crimson, si affiancano le prime composizioni, quasi interamente cantate in italiano, talvolta più orientate al rock classico, talvolta invece al jazz e al progressive rock. I quattro si avvalgono inoltre della collaborazione del chitarrista Alberto Turra per la produzione artistica e la cura degli arrangiamenti. La svolta, nel bene e nel male, avviene all’inizio del 2018, quando Riccardo decide di lasciare la band per incompatibilità lavorative. I tre membri fondatori decidono allora di tornare in qualche modo all’origine di questa storia: prendono i brani fin qui composti e li decostruiscono uno a uno, riarrangiandoli sostituendo il basso con chitarre baritone ed extended range, riuscendo a dare a ognuno quel carattere progressivo e sperimentale che era nelle intenzioni iniziali. I riferimenti sono i Motorpsycho, gli Elephant9, i Bushman’s Revenge e in generale il mondo sperimentale norvegese raccolto sotto il cappello della casa discografica Rune Grammofon, ma anche lo stoner, il grunge e non ultimo il progressive italiano, con una strizzata d’occhio alle lyrics impegnate di band quali Area e Stormy Six. A cavallo tra il 2018 e il 2019 è prevista la pubblicazione del primo EP autoprodotto, che si intitolerà naturalmente Club Rusakov.
